Situation:
The operational support for the Lockheed F4 “Phantom” flying fleet worldwide is a priority, despite the discontinuation of spare parts production for the General Electric J79 engines for several years.
Objective:
Out-of-service engines in the USA are to be transported,
disassembled, and necessary parts repaired through established procedures.
Measures:
- Negotiations with the German Air Force for the utilization of approved repair procedures.
- Establishment of export procedures for defense goods from the USA to Germany, adhering to “ITAR” regulations,including relevant end-user certificates.
- Development of work plans and adjustments to repair procedures.
- Quality control and final acceptance.
- Creation of a network with international customers and the establishment of a sales structure.
- Sales, shipping, documentation, and warranty services.
Results:
- The delivery of US engines was successfully achieved in batches.
- An internal structure for inspection and refurbishment was implemented.
- In the first year alone, revenues in the six-figure euro range were realized.
